Inner Core_Sensitive Modes and the Mantl
Inner-core sensitive modes are also quite sensitive
to structure in the mantle (see panel on the left). To
study time-dependent effects in core structure,
we therefore have to subtract the mantle signal prior to our
analysis. Or preferred mantle model is the Scripps
model SB10L18 that gives both shear velocity and bulk
sound speed and was constructed including normal mode data.
Inaccurate mantle corrections are of some concern as
an inadequate mantle correction may influence our
results on inner core differential rotation.
However, we show on this poster that our results do not depend
strongly on the choice of the mantle model we use
to perform the correction.
