Preparation for Practical 3 (determine the source mechanism of a few large earthquakes) - get data from the DMC, GEOSCOPE, whatever (send either breq_fast or netdc request; geoscope only takes netdc requests) - the list of earthquakes is on the class account under: data.dir/prac3.dir/locale.events - choose a deep event (h0 > 300 km) and a shallow one - get data 15 min prior to event time and ask for 12 h (we will need about 10h, starting at the event time and steep filters applied to the data will cause some loss of data at the start and end of your records) simple/easy events: Izu-Bonin, Sumatra, Indian Ocean complex events: Minahassa, Volcano Island, El Salvador small but fine (since deep!)/also simple: Santiago del Estero (Argentina)
